7-mile fundraiser hike!

The “Our Hike” – Hope, Steps & A Cure is a fun way to raise awareness and much-needed funds for the Aplastic Anemia & MDS International Foundation (AA&MDSIF) to provide programs and services to help patients and families.
“The “Our Hike” fundraiser has been ongoing since 2006 when my mom (Patty Laatsch) and I (Robin Grapa) embarked on a monumental hike across America to spread awareness, hope, and raise funds to support the AA&MDSIF who was there for me and my family when I was diagnosed with and treated for Aplastic Anemia. I was treated in 1998 when I was 18 years old, and by the grace of God and the support of hospital staff, friends and family, I survived. After being told I was in complete remission, I wanted to do something huge to celebrate my life while spreading hope to other Bone Marrow Disease patients, too. So in 2006 I hiked for 8-1⁄2 months, side-by-side with my mom, across America to raise awareness and funds for Bone Marrow Disease. This trek was titled, “Our Hike across America for Bone Marrow Disease.” After completing the nearly 5,000-mile journey, we wanted to keep going, but had to find something a little closer to home... so the “Our Hike” adventure continues – and we’ve joined forces with the AA&MDSIF's Hope, Steps & A Cure Walk! We would love for you to join us in a “woodsy” 7-mile day hike in beautiful Northern Wisconsin, and help us support the AA&MDSIF in the fight against Bone Marrow Disease – so they can continue to help patients and their families -- and give them hope, just like they did for us.

How to Register
This year's registrants will get a free T-shirt with their online registration! Woo-hoo!! :)
If you register online before August 18, you will be guaranteed a t-shirt!!
The Hike.
12:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Flambeau Forest Inn

Registration begins at 12:00 pm on Saturday. If you are already registered online, please arrive no later than 12:30 to pick up your t-shirt, sign our waiver and get the scoop on the route and a super-quick safety briefing.
1:00 pm -- Hikers head out for a 7-mile hike in the northwoods!*
* The 7-mile route will start out with a small road-walking section, then take us on hiking trails and ATV trails. It will be a loop hike that will start and end at Flambeau Forest Inn.
Dinner & Raffles.

5:00 pm - 7:00 pm -- Dinner! Flambeau Forest Inn will be serving a mouth-watering, re-energizing meal of pulled pork with sides for only $8/plate! Dinner will run until 7:00 pm. We may run a few smaller raffles during dinner for fun.
7:00 pm - 11:00 pm -- Raffles! We'll get into the raffles starting at 7:00 pm. Lots of big, fun baskets, home-made items, and a few big-ticket items will up for for raffling! Great chance to win some cool stuff!
If you can't make it to the hike, come on out for dinner! Or just the raffles! Or just the hike! Or, if you don't want to miss any of the excitement, be there for all of it! Should be a fun time! Hope to see you there!!

All profits from this event, including registration fees, will be sent to the Aplastic Anemia & MDS International Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit organization to support patients and their families that are dealing with Bone Marrow Disease.
